Graduation rates rise again
For Everett Public Schools, a decade's worth of work toward the goal of 100 percent graduation pays off year after year.
Almost nine out of 10 students (89.3 percent) in the class of 2014 graduated on time, which is within four years of entering high school. That number is up from 84.4 percent the year before - an increase of 5 percent in one year.
For students who chose a five-year path to graduation, the rates are equally impressive. A year ago that number was 88.5 percent. This week the state confirmed Everett Public School's five-year graduation rate in 2014 as 91.2 percent. Read more ...

Helping them succeed one-student-at-a-time! Everett High School AVID graduate accepted by Notre Dame
After earning her B.A. in International Affairs from Eastern Washington University, Mikaila Leyva will go after her Masters/Ph.D. in Political Science at Notre Dame.
"Mikaila was in our first AVID class in 2010," said Jane Johnson, AVID teacher at Everett High School. "She attended Eastern because of our AVID road trip visit, and look at her now."
"Being the first person in my family to go on to higher education I never thought beyond getting my bachelor's degree," said Mikaily Leyva. "Thank you to everyone who helped me get here, your help and advice did not go unnoticed!"

Washington School Counselor of the Year is from Henry M. Jackson High School. Sarah Williams has been selected as the 2014 Washington School Counselor of the Year through the Washington School Counselor Association (WSCA). They look for counselors who are running a top-notch, comprehensive school counseling program at either the elementary, middle or high school level. |

Friday, March 6, for Woodside families moving to Silver Lake, Heatherwood Apartments, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Drop-in open house.
