Learning Improvement Fridays begin in October
All Fridays during September are full day Fridays. Learning Improvement Fridays, which start in October, are shorter by an hour and 15 minutes. Check the district printed calendar for the full year's schedule of Learning Improvement Fridays and the early release days for schools.

School board launches two public processes this fall 1st day of school

Long-term processes launching in September and October seek public thoughts about managing newly-vacant property and solutions to increasing student enrollment.

District Property Management Process begins Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Port Gardner Room of the Community Resource Center. This process will establish changes to the existing district Property Use Matrix. The matrix was established with the help of a community group in 2013. The matrix lists how district properties may be used in the future. More details online.

Student Growth Management Process begins Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Woodside Elementary School. this process will help determine solutions to overcrowding that are caused by more students enrolling in district schools. More details online.

More public comment time added to board meetings
The Sept. 9 board meeting will launch the school board's new practice of welcoming public comments before and after the consent agenda. This is in response to patron's requests to comment on items in the consent agenda before the board takes action on that group of items.
Legislative priorities
The board will discuss what legislative positions it will advocate for during the 2015 legislative session.
