The school board will meet in regular session on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the board room at the Community Resource Center.

Board meeting highlights

2014-15 Teacher of the Year announced	Each year the district honors a teacher, based upon ongoing contributions to students. This year, Barney Peterson, Monroe Elementary fourth grade teacher is the honoree. She will be placed in contention for the regional Teacher of the Year and could be among those considered for the state honor.
2013-14 Chinese language program recognition	Seventy students at Everett High have taken Mandarin Chinese this year through the College Board Chinese Language Placement Program.
Technology Action Plan status report	The district's Technology Action Plan is a framework for using technology to enhance student learning.
Recruitment, retention and affirmative action report	One of the district's goals is hiring and retaining staff that support the diversity of students.
Common Core update	Washington state formally approved Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in July 2011. Therefore, every Washington public school district must have classroom materials, instruction and standards aligned with CCSS in place for 2014-15. This report outlines the district's preparations plans.

DECA teams compete at 68th annual International Career Development Conference
In May, Cascade and Henry M. Jackson high school DECA students traveled to Atlanta, GA. Jackson student Paul Schastlivets finished in the top ten in the International Business Plan category. Click on photo for Point of Pride.

Jackson's Pischer, Todd honored
The two Jackson High School seniors received Dwayne Lane's Athlete of the Year awards in a Thursday night ceremony at Everett High School. The awards each include $2,500 college scholarships. Click on link for Herald article.

Cascade High School students design and paint mural

It was designed and painted by students Kevin Bui and Alicia Kuppler and took them a combined 15+ hours to chalk, prime, paint and seal. Click on photo for Point of Pride.
