Starting Off on the "Write" Foot

Happy New Year! I hope that by now you're feeling that steady pace of the work rhythm and putting your 2013 business plans in place. Are you trying to reach out to more prospects, clients and close more business this year? Hopefully so! Have you begun to implement systems to achieve those goals? Now that it's time to get down to it, you might feel overwhelmed with the process and those goals can quickly become blurred. So how do you start out on the "write" foot and what does that mean?

help Many clients express their concern about being consistent with an email campaign and many don't know what to write. I recently began working with one client who said he's been trying this for "years" but just couldn't find the time or know how to write and correspond on a regular basis. He believes he's losing business because of it.

So how do you do it? There are some simple steps to take that can easily get you off on the right foot. Start with a plan. It's the beginning of the year and a great time to start anew. Look at the calendar and think about your business cycle. questions When is your busy time? When are you slow? What do your current clients look to you for and how do you help them? Ask yourself these questions and more as you write down your plan. As you analyze your business patterns, write down some topics that come to mind that you think your clients and prospects would want to learn about. This will give you food for thought. Once you've come up with about a dozen topics, commit to dates for these future newsletters. Write it down. Putting it in pen on your calendar makes it real. Do you see a pattern here? Write your plan; write your topics; and write your newsletters! This is how you can start off on the "write" foot! It's that simple.

Steps for a Successful Email Campaign

  • Analyze your business, writing down critical information about your business cycle
  • Write down topics for newsletters as you analyze
