"Kumo Express" & New Service Barge, the "Harold", Launched by
Penn Cove - Everest Marine
After a long spring and summer of fabrication efforts at our in house vessel and equipment shop known as Everest Marine, for partner and design guru Stew Everest, we were happy to launch and sea trial two new vessels over the last two months.
 The "Harold", named in memory of famed Coupeville nice guy and smelt fisherman, is a 44' X 16' service barge for use by our mussel seeding crew. It will pack tons, load with a Hiab 033 hydraulic knuckle crane and is powered by a new Honda 130 HP outboard engine. Hydraulic power comes from a custom 30 HP diesel power pack assembled by our engineers at Penn Cove.
 The "Kumo Express" is a 50' X 17' custom long-line oyster harvest vessel which was manufactured for harvesting Kumamoto oysters at the Coast Seafoods farm site in Humboldt Bay, California. It is powered by twin 300 HP John Deere marine engines driving twin 18" Namjet TJ-457 Tractor-Jet drives. It has a Hiab 044 hydraulic crane and custom longline harvest gear. It was recently taken down the the Pacific coast on delivery to Humboldt Bay by our fearless engineer Eric and our Quilcene farm manager Daryl.

Most Beautiful Oyster Award!!
We are proud to announce that our famous Penn Cove Select oyster recently received the "Most Beautiful Oyster" award at the 2012 Elliott's Oyster House 20th Annual Oyster New Year!!
 This is a great fund raising event put on by Elliott's for the Puget Sound Restoration Fund where they raised $10,000 this year for this worthy non-profit organization.
It was also an achievement for us because the Penn Cove Select oyster has now won this prestigious award for eight of the last nine years!! |
