Call to Action - This Could Be Our Last Chance

Dear MRTA members:

I contacted, by letter, Majority Floor Leader Richard yesterday asking him to bring forward HB 478 (Fitzwater) the permanent renewal of 2.55 factor after 31 years of service. Indications are that this bill may be brought forward very soon, the Senate is working today.

As you know 2.55 after 31 years of service creates a revenue gain of $7 million per year to the PSRS system and is an important tool for school districts to attract and retain experienced educators for the benefit of our children. We need you to write your State Senator, before Monday afternoon, in support of HB 478.

Suggested verbiage:

Dear Senator XXXX:

As a voter, a taxpayer, and an MRTA member in you district I respectfully ask you to compel Senate Leadership to bring up HB 478 for a vote and ask you to vote yes!

As you know HB 478 permanently enacts the PSRS provision of a 2.55 factor after 31 years of service. This legislation will create a revenue gain of $7 million per year to the PSRS system and is an important tool for school districts to attract and retain experienced educators for the benefit of our children.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
