Dear Saint Louis City Education Retirees:

HB 1008 was introduced by Representative Mitten Thursday, last week. We THANK her! HB 1008 provides a permanent cost-of-living adjustment for STL City retirees. This legislation will not move through the Legislative process unless the STL City Retirees "SHOW UP" by getting co-sponsors for the bill from the Saint Louis areaPLEASE EMAIL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TODAY!

Below is suggested verbiage.  Cut and paste this into an email and send it to YOUR Representative.

Dear Representative XXX

As a voter and taxpayer in your district, I respectfully request you to cosponsor HB 1008 - Mitten. HB 1008 deals with a cost- of-living adjustment (COLA) for Saint Louis City education retirees. I have not had a COLA in 9 years and have lost 20% of my buying power. It is getting very hard to make ends meet. Out-state education retirees have an automatic COLA written in statute. This is an issue of fairness for those who spent a lifetime educating Saint Louis children. HB 1008 provides relief. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your consideration.
