Develop your Juggling Skills
|
When you see a juggler perform, you notice the smooth, regular, rhythmic action. It seems so easy, so naturally coordinated. This is how we working mums appear on a good week, when our arrangements all work out! The right hand and the left hand seem to know exactly what they are doing - and you can look straight ahead without worrying.
But have you seen the amount of practice
behind the scenes that the juggler puts in? In order to find the rhythm, there's a lot of testing out, of dropping of balls, of seeing how things work. Eventually, the juggler works out the timing, the pulse, the overall pattern to follow, how much they can juggle at one time!
How can we get into a rhythm like the juggler? Work out the regular sequences that suit you and your family. Get the simple routine working first before adding more. When the juggler adds in another element to juggle - or takes one out - they change the rhythm. Like the juggler it will need practice and refinement to make sure everything works smoothly.
What is the regular pattern you have right now? What can you do to make it more rhythmic?
What can you influence at home or at work to make it so?
Sometimes we have no choice other than to juggle more balls. Sometimes we have more choice and we can influence more than we at first think! What do you have influence over that could help?
