Develop your Juggling Skills
When you see a juggler perform, you notice the smooth, regular, rhythmic action. It seems so easy, so naturally coordinated. This is how we working mums appear on a good week, when our arrangements all work out! The right hand and the left hand seem to know exactly what they are doing - and you can look straight ahead without worrying.

But have you seen the amount of practice
behind the scenes that the juggler puts in? In order to find the rhythm, there's a lot of testing out, of dropping of balls, of seeing how things work. Eventually, the juggler works out the timing, the pulse, the overall pattern to follow, how much they can juggle at one time!

How can we get into a rhythm like the juggler?

Work out the regular sequences that suit you and your family.

Get the simple routine working first before adding more.

When the juggler adds in another element to juggle - or takes one out - they change the rhythm.

Like the juggler it will need practice and refinement to make sure everything works smoothly.

What is the regular pattern you have right now? What can you do to make it more rhythmic?
What can you influence at home or at work to make it so?
Sometimes we have no choice other than to juggle more balls.
Sometimes we have more choice and we can influence more than we at first think! What do you have influence over that could help?

kb Welcome to the first issue of Tips from the Big Top, my new newsletter for Mums at work. My aim each month is to explore a different aspect of our lives and offer some timely reminders about the things we can do for ourselves to make our lives as working mums as fun and fulfilling as possible. I use the Circus Theme because there are so many great images and concepts we can relate to in the Big Top! And, our lives do feel a little like a circus act at times, do they not?!

If you have tips you'd like to share with other working mums, either tell me, or share them on my Facebook Page.

My next event for working mums is a Brunch Workshop on Sunday 3rd March - Beyond the Juggling Act. It's going to be fun and super practical too! If you'd like to join our group (we already have 6 confirmed attendees), you can sign up on the event page, or just email me.

Please pass this onto anyone you feel might be interested in this event, either in March or later, I've already got a list of mums keen for it to run later in the year!

I welcome any feedback you have on this newsletter - and any ideas for future topics you'd like to see explored!

All the best
Kirstin
