**It's time to announce another Subscriber Only offering!** With several athletic events happening this month I thought it was fitting to make it massage related. From now through September 30th subscribers will receive an additional 30 minutes (on us!) when scheduling a one-hour clinic massage with Christina. Just mention that you're a newsletter subscriber when you schedule to automatically receive an hour and a half massage -- and save $50. Enjoy!
Cheers,

How the Alter G Anti-gravity Treadmill Enhances Rehabilitation & Improes Performance
The AlterGŪ M320 Anti-Gravity TreadmillŪ provides unique unweighting technology that provides the opportunity to rehabilitate lower extremities and perform sport specific conditioning like never before. Precise partial weight-bearing enables accurate implementation of unweighting protocols not found in any other rehabilitation equipment on the market.
Unlike the simple lift harness devices, AlterG rehabilitation treadmills incorporate differential air pressure technology developed by NASA and enhanced by AlterG to provide precise unweighting in one percent increments to as low as 20 percent of the patient's body weight. AlterG's exclusive precision gives patients the ability to set the exact point where exercise becomes pain free and provides clinicians a way to accurately measure patient rehabilitation progress.
There are many benefits of training and rehabbing on the AlterG.
Athletes use the AlterG to reduce the frequency of injury, build fitness and strengthen and improve their muscle coordination. Patients use the AlterG to recover from injury and surgery and it allows them to immediately do partial weight bearing exercises. Patients with neurological disorders maintain, and in some cases even regain, functionality and mobility working with the AlterG. It is also used as a motivational tool for obese patients as users can immediately experience what it would feel like to weigh less, exercise with less joint impact and stress and improve their cardiovascular health.
The AlterG is FDA-cleared for the following functional rehabilitation indications:
- Rehabilitation following injury or surgery of the lower extremity (hip, knee, ankle or foot)
- Rehabilitation after total joint replacement
- Gait training in neurological patients
- Strengthening and conditioning in older patients
- Weight control and reduction
In addition, the AlterG can be used for personal fitness and sports performance applications such as:
- Enabling adjustable impact while walking or running
- Allows for gradual progression of exercise
- Minimizing the jarring forces that can lead to injury
- Significantly and precisely reduces ground reaction forces
- Helps minimize discomfort and encourages movement
- Creates a safe environment to work on technique
- Allows for an increase in training volume with less impact
For your complimentary 10-minute trial on the AlterG at Elite Health Services please contact us!

"Heather has restored my faith in Physical Therapy."
"My journey began on February 25, 2013 when I underwent total right knee replacement surgery. I was expecting an easy recovery because my previous left knee replacement was rather simple and expedient. I went to a reputable outpatient rehab center in Westchester County, New York for physical therapy but only received mediocre care. On April 4th, I was advised by my doctor to go back to the Hospital for Special Surgery for a manipulation. Thereafter, I went for physical therapy, every day, for about 30 days, but I could still only get to 83 degrees flexion and -14 degrees extension.
Needless to say I was pretty down in the dumps. I called EHS based on a recommendation, looking for something different. I spoke to Connie and explained my situation. I reported that I needed a therapist who was going to be upbeat and personable because I wasn't feeling very good about my situation and needed motivation. Connie assured me that she had just the right person for me.
On May 4th, I had my first appointment with Heather Whiting. I found Heather to be all the things that I needed. When I wanted to cry, she was upbeat and encouraging. When I wanted to be lazy, she pushed me along and provided me with all the reasons why I shouldn't be laid back in my recovery. Each week, we made some progress but often, we made a lot of progress. I am happy to report that with Heather's assistance, I can now bend my knee to 127 degrees of flexion and -1 degrees of extension and I am getting closer and closer to getting there on my own every day.
Heather has restored my faith in physical therapy. She has taught me things about the (manual) method of PT practiced at EHS. She has encouraged me to be tough and to do the work for myself, but also understands if emotion sets in. It helps that we have the kind of relationship where I don't want to disappoint her either. I have made tremendous progress and last week, I went out for my first bike ride since the surgery. I used to ride up to 400 miles a week, training for ultra-long distance riding, so it is a great relief to be able to get back on my bike again!
I now tell everyone I know with an injury to go to Heather Whiting and EHS."
