Last month it was money. This month it's death.
Along those lines, people often ask: "What would you like your epitaph to be?" Thankfully I've moved beyond my initial response which was: "At least I tried."
I don't remember the exact context, but recently relatives were sharing and the topic came up, "If you could summarize your life in three words, what would they be?" For me the desired words would be: "Humorous. Generous. Wise." (Because I always need more than three words, I would hope that the list would be expanded in people's minds to include "loving" and "man of faith.")
So, that's it. If you could summarize your life in three words, what would you like them to be? What are doing to make them a reality in the lives and minds of others?
And while we're at it, perhaps you should consider a funeral for someone living and see how it goes. It may be a grand success. Then again, you may find there's a reason people traditionally have waited for others to die.
