We wish you a year of success, peace and joy. Two words sum it up for us at this time, gratitude and excitement! This January we are seeing lots of new and familiar faces at the yoga studio. We are excited for all of our members, particularly for their dedication to taking time for themselves. It can be difficult to find space in our schedules and for most of us, we only truly realize how much we benefit from taking this time until after we've had a 90 minute sweat!

Now is the time to set your goals, take stock of where you are in the present and plan your year so that you can begin to move yourself in the direction of your dreams. Anything is possible for you in your life! Your focus will determine your reality. With dedication and persistence, and with help from a network of support you can succeed! We are here and ready to listen, support, encourage, inspire and be a real part of those goals and dreams.

We had an amazing turn out for the Christmas Potluck and it was so good to connect with our community outside of class. There was some pretty awesome food there as well! On the subject of food, we are posting recipes for snacks and meals daily through our website blog and also on our Facebook Page during our 30 Day Challenge starting this Monday January 11th. The Level I 90 with Music class - aka Bikram Beatz - is gaining popularity and good reviews. Please let us know what you think of this class, which happens every Wednesday at 9:30am and 5pm. Your opinion is important to us. Here's a link to some of Jacqueline's playlists! Listen and enjoy on the free app for music called 8Tracks.com. If you haven't used 8Tracks yet it's a simple, free and easy way to discover new music! It's essentially 'internet radio'.

Have you tried our Flow style classes yet? We have 4 x 60 minute Flow Yoga classes weekly on our schedule as well as a flow style Level II 75 minute class twice monthly. The 60 minute Flow Yoga classes are great for beginners, not recommended for those recovering from injuries. Plan to check out some of these classes as soon as you can! Challenge your balance, agility and concentration.

  
Have you tried our Warm Therapeutic Yin Class yet? Get the most of your yoga membership or class passes and try the various classes on the schedule. See how these classes can work together to create more flexibility, greater range of motion, etc. We recommend you bring bolsters, blocks, pillows etc. to ensure your comfort for Yin class.

The Yin practice is the perfect compliment to Bikram Method and Flow yoga. Do give it a chance, at least two or three times to truly get a sense of what happens in class and how your body responds. As you gain an understanding of the practice we think you will come to love the experience of Yin yoga as your hips start to feel the deep release.    

YOGA FOR HOCKEY WORKSHOP

Join us for a 90 minute workshop where the focus is on stretching as an essential part of successful ice hockey.  A good stretching routine helps to minimize muscle imbalances, prevent injuries and improve performance during the practices and games!  This workshop is designed for hockey players who do not have any current injuries.  If you have an injury, contact us directly by email or phone to discuss options such as private instruction.  

Introduction to Mindfulness Workshop

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to, and seeing clearly whatever is happening in our lives.  It will not eliminate life's pressures, but it can help us respond to them in a calm manner that benefits our mind and our body. Mindfulness helps us recognise and step away from habitual, often unconscious emotional and physiological reactions to everyday events and provides a scientifically researched approach to creating understanding, compassion and insight.

Practicing mindfulness allows us to be fully present in our life and work, improves our quality of life, strengthens our relationships and communication skills, and these are just a few of the benefits!
