This month some fun stuff is happening  at the studio and in our greater yoga community, and we are excited to share it with you! With so much of the beautiful West Coast to explore, and this gorgeous sunny weather we are seeing every day, we feel inspired and energized to get out and move our bodies! Dressing is down to one layer now, ok two if you want get technical (maybe three at times!) we are sure you agree that dressing after yoga and for the day just got a whole lot simpler!

Just as the great outdoors nourishes the soul,  a regular yoga practice keeps our joints and muscles lubricated, critical for long hikes and beach excursions. It keeps our organs flushed and revitalized, which is important for countering negative effects of common summer indulgences! On top of this regular yoga practice keeps our mind calm -  crucial for balancing a busy summer schedule! Those are just a few benefits and there are many more so we encourage you to keep up your yoga this summer and stay at your best!

Early morning practice will free up time in your afternoon / evening schedule. Practicing with the rise of the Earth energy is an amazing way to start the day! It may only take a few minor adjustments to make it happen - as we say at yoga - small adjustments can make big differences! 

Our June Schedule is now in effect. Along with plenty of Bikram yoga, we have the Bikram Beatz class twice weekly and judging by the feedback we are getting it's a big hit!  We'd love to know what you think of it. Come and check it out and tell us!  We also have Yin class twice weekly, plenty of 1 hour classes, Express Hot, Yogahour®, Flow, Yoga Nidra and Intermediate! There's nothing quite like a Bikram class followed by Yin Yoga - you have to feel it to believe it!

Two amazing women, Rajashree Choudhury and Emmy Cleaves, and an amazing man - Dr. Bob Cleaves, will be coming to Sidney this coming weekend for a huge Fundraising Event and Teacher Recertification at Bikram Yoga Sidney. To make a donation and to register contact the Sidney studio directly by phone at 250 655 9642 as soon as possible. Most events are now sold out.



We welcome two experienced yoga teachers, Britney Stables and Christine Robertson, to our yoga community! Britney teaches Hatha, Vinyasa, Power, Yin and Restorative Yoga, is a Registered Massage Therapist and Reiki Master, and apparently is a whiz with a computer already making up posters and soon to be working the front desk. Christine is an experienced Bikram Yoga teacher who is passionate about the practice and teaches with energy, clarity and compassion. We know you are going to love these two ladies and they already feel the great community vibe that is the hallmark of our studio.

Congratulations to the yogis taking part in and/or completing the 30 Day Challenge! We presently have a 30/60 ongoing Challenge - keep up the great work you dedicated yogis, you inspire all of us! Also we'd like to recognize and encourage our Tough Mudder Team - the Westshore Hot Yogaholics 2015! This year's event in Whistler is fast approaching on June 20th. Good luck you guys!

June 21st is Father's Day, National Aboriginal Day and International Yoga Day! We hope you can join us.




We offer private classes and small group class options.This is a great way to get to discover your personal edges while in yoga postures and/or refine your practice.

Taking a Flow or Yin class can deepen your yang practice. Deeply stretching the hips at Yin Yoga  can lead to greater stamina during Bikram class and a stronger body.

Practicing one on one with an Instructor will change your yoga practice immensely!

Our friends at the View Royal Casino are having a June Jamboree especially for seniors! Many local businesses are involved and each day in June they are offering something special. Our day is Thursday June 25th and Britney will be leading a beautiful relaxing Yin/Yang class on their new outdoor patio!

Benefits: 

- Helps to cure gout and rheumatism

- Strengthens the stomach muscle

- Strengthens joints

- Helps to relieve arthritis in all the leg joints and hips

- Promotes balance and focus in the body and mind

Tips: 

- Make sure to distribute weight evenly through your thighs, calves, and all areas of your foot before going down

- Keep your standing leg locked out while you bend down to the ground, looking four feet in front of you

- Always remember to not get ahead of yourself, "slow and steady wins the race"

- Keep lengthening your spine by pretending to touch the top of your head to the ceiling

- When you are confident that you can balance, switch your gaze to meet your eyes in the mirror, engage you abdominal muscles, take a long inhale through your nose, and life your toes to balance

- When lifting, press your palms together really tight in front of your chest
