Happy New Year!

Thank you for being a part of our yoga community. It has been a year of ups and downs full of joy and changes!  We have enjoyed visiting teachers throughout the year and some wonderful workshops and events. Through it all we feel blessed and honoured to be providing yoga to the Westshore and continuing on our mission to provide a safe and accepting space for everyone to practice. 

Perhaps you are setting your New Year's resolutions now? This newsletter contains  information regarding special offers, schedule changes and opportunities for you to make 2014 a year to shine bright and sweat often. Our Annual Sale ends January 17th so don't miss out. Payment plans are available and there is something for everyone. Decide, commit, succeed! 
   
We wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy 2014. This is a time for reflection as well as celebration. As you look back on the past year and all that has taken place remember each experience for the good that has come of it and the knowledge that you have gained. Remember the efforts you have made and the goals you have reached! Remember the love you have shared and the happiness you have brought to others.

Warm Hatha Flow Class
 We are pleased and excited to be adding a Warm Hatha Flow Yoga class taught by our very own Thandi Williams to our Winter 2014 schedule. This class is an effective way to build upper body and core strength and will be run at a temperature of 95 degrees.


LENGTHEN & LUXURIATE

Yin Yoga & Self Massage Workshop
 
A luxurious two hour yin yoga class that combines various self-massage techniques that enliven & lengthen the whole body.  Self-massage techniques help melt away tension and open the body; the longer holds of Yin Yoga help to bring more chi or prana to the body, as well as lengthen & strengthen the joints, bone & ligaments.  We welcome you to gentle, meditative practice in which you'll be introduced to ways to nourish mind, body & spirit. 

Taught by Cedar Sorensen RYT & Yoga Therapist and Kara Sorensen RMT (Registered Massage Therapist)

New Year's Eve Silent
Yoga Class by Candlelight


Looking for something healthy and fun to do this New Year's Eve?
How about a silent candlelight yoga class with your yoga friends?

When: New Year's Eve!
10:20pm to 11:50 pm

After class we will gather in the foyer and count down to the start of 2014!  Please feel free to bring a snack or drinks to share or make a small donation to help with the overall costs of this event. Refreshments provided.

    

Yin - Yang Yoga
Sundays at 7pm

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.

While initially this style of yoga can seem  passive, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to five minutes! You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice. It is the perfect compliment to your Bikram Yoga practice. This class is  75 minutes and the room is cooled to a regular temperature.  It is typically set to music.
