Dear
How's your summer going? We are enjoying a gorgeous sunny summer so far and there is no end to this great weather in sight! I encourage you to maintain your practice to better enjoy the outside activities and keep you feeling great! Thank you for staying connected and for taking a few minutes to review our newsletter and explore what's new and happening in your yoga community.
Our 60 Minute Express hot yoga classes are becoming popular. If you haven't yet tried one of these please come and check it out! Tell us what you think, we value your opinion. See below for more details.
Kyla is running summer bootcamps outside and we are still enjoying working out with her at our Circuit Training classes every Tuesday & Thursday at 11:30am.
We continue to offer Yin-Yang yoga class at 7pm on Sundays. This class is not heated. Again - we invite you to check out these classes and see what they can make possible for you. Just remember to take it easy at the start!
We are pleased to announce that visiting teacher Aaron R. is here to practice and teach for the summer. Originally from Chicago, Aaron is passionate about Bikram Yoga and has a clear direct teaching style. This is his first trip to Vancouver Island and we hope you will have a chance to take his class soon!
Our 'Sunshine Sale' started Monday July 15th and is available online and at the studio and has a little something for everyone.
Stay tuned for our 'Beach Clean up and Picnic' announcement for August. Thanks again and see you soon in the hot room and have a great summer!
All the best - Jacqueline, John & the BYW Team.

Circuit Training Benefits "Due to the lack of rest that circuit training demands, exercisers maintain elevated heart rates for the entire period of exercise. The combination of weight training and increased cardiovascular effort makes circuit training a beneficial type of cross training. The exerciser gains muscle through the resistance training. The exerciser increases his/her cardiovascular endurance during the slightly elevated heart rate that is maintained in between sets and..."

"It's not necessary-or even possible-for all the muscles to be relaxed when you're doing some Yin Yoga postures. In a seated forward bend, for example, you can gently pull with your arms to increase the stretch on the connective tissues of your spine. But in order for these connective tissues to be affected, you must relax the muscles around the spine itself. Because Yin Yoga requires that the muscles be relaxed around the connective tissue you want to stretch, not all yoga poses can be done effectively-or safely-as yin poses.
Standing poses, arm balances, and inversions-poses that require muscular action to protect the structural integrity of the body-can't be done as yin poses. Also...."

Exciting Teacher News!
Hello!
My name is Kimiko Foster.
In addition to my sustainability Blog "Be the Change"
www.facebook.com/plants.the.seed
I am hoping to develop and facilitate short workshops in the community that are based on different themes in sustainability.
Workshops are designed around themes such as: making your own household cleaners, detergents, soaps, and cosmetics; performing energy and water audits in the home; and learning about harmful chemicals on your food, in and around your home and how you can effectively reduce your exposure!
Early in my environmental career I was told that 20% of people are already living as sustainably as they can, 20% of people have no interest and likely wont change unless laws change, but 60% of people want to change, they don't know how, and that is where education comes in. This is where I want to make a difference in my community.
I am undertaking research to develop an understanding for who would be interested in short fun, useful and practical workshops on sustainable living. I would be very grateful if you could participate in this survey (which should take no more than 10 minutes), to help guide the workshop development. Those that take the survey are eligible for a 25% discount on the workshop.
Thank you for your interest!
