 "Closing the Gap to Zero Suicides" Webinar
 
In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept. 10), the Arizona Department of Health Services/ Division of Behavioral Health Services (ADHS/DBHS) and Magellan Health Services of Arizona will host a panel discussion on suicide prevention via webinar on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The webinar, "Closing the Gap to Zero Suicides," will feature leaders from ADHS/DBHS, Magellan, the Veterans Administration and service provider JFCS--all of which have been involved in the Arizona Programmatic Suicide Deterrent System. The discussion will run for one hour and be followed by a period for questions. Click here to register for the webinar. Recovery Month Event: Journey to Wellness Expo

The Central Arizona Health and Wellness Committee and Magellan Health Services of Arizona invite service providers to join them at the Journey to Wellness: Integrated Health Programs in Central Arizona Expo Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. The Expo, in partnership with GateWay Community College, will highlight achievements in integrated health care for individuals with mental illness and programs that are improving their whole health and wellness. The event will take place in GateWay Community College's Copper Room (108 N. 40th St., Phoenix).

 

Launched in 2011 by Governor Jan Brewer, integrated health care is in full swing in Maricopa County. Come see exhibits and demonstrations, and hear stories from individuals whose lives have been radically changed for the better. You'll have the opportunity to talk to health coaches, peer support specialists and other individuals who are supporting these changes. Join the Mental Health Awareness Coalition for Mental Health Day at the Ballpark

The Mental Health Awareness Coalition (MHAC) is sponsoring a Day at the Ballpark, Saturday, Sept. 14, at Chase Field. First pitch is at 5:10 p.m. MHAC members will host tables to provide information about mental illness and recovery. MHAC is offering discounted tickets for the game. A portion of each ticket price is donated to MHAC for their scholarship program and to help fund the Candlelight Celebration in October. Tickets are located in the Lower Level, Bullpen Reserve - Sections 136-138and cost just $20 each (normally $27)! Groups that purchase 20 or more tickets will be entered in a raffle to win one of the following rewards: autographed Gerardo Parra photo, voucher for four guests to watch batting practice before a game, or two dugout box tickets to a 2013 regular season D-backs game. Magellan is looking for community members to join our Stigma Reduction Committee, whose goal is to reduce stigma through the positive and innovative things we do and say on a daily basis. Grandparents as Parents

If so, join the Family Involvement Center for their next Book Club meeting.  Learn effective strategies to help you cope with the stresses of parenting the second time around, care for vulnerable grand kids and set boundaries with their often-troubled parents, and navigate the maze of government aid, court proceedings, and special education.
