Family Pottery, All Ages

Spend creative quality time together with your children making functional, sculptural and decorative objects. We'll have fun learning the basic clay construction methods like pinching, coiling and working with flat slabs. For kids 4 yrs old and up and adult 105 yrs old and down - come with grandparents, parents or caregivers. Open to the community and Leo Baeck families. Instructor: Firth MacMillan.

Encaustic Workshops, Adults

This is a comprehensive encaustic workshop that covers everything from setting up an encaustic studio and the basics of painting with hot wax, to working with a variety of mediums and techniques. Students will explore traditional encaustic practice as well as ink transfers, stenciling, collage and working with found objects. No painting experience necessary. Instructor: Sari Zon.

Drawing for Beginners, Adults

Designed for beginners and students who want to revisit basic principles in drawing. Emphasis will be on how to create successful composition and improve proportions. Using lines, tones and texture as visual elements student will draw from still life and photos. Instructor: Sadko Hadzihasanovic.

Ester Rada's cross-cultural sound is a deep reflection of the Israeli born Ethiopian's heritage. Ester has most recently teamed up with acclaimed Israeli producers Kuti (Kutiman/Thru-You) and Sabbo (Soulico), to release her first self-written and composed solo EP "gracefully combining Ethio-Jazz, funk, soul and r&b, with mixed undertones of black grooves."

The re-envisioned 2013 Toronto Jewish Literary Festival features top-quality literary programs geared towards diverse audiences in different locations and in partnership with other Jewish organizations across the city. 
 
This year's Festival includes Opening Night with Fania Oz-Salzberger launching Jews and Words, co-written with her father Amos Oz; the 30th anniversary of None is Too Many with co-author Irving Abella; late-night poetry and prose readings with local Jewish writers at the Miles Nadal JCC; the 25th annual Helen and Stan Vine Canadian Jewish Book Awards; and KidLit! - an extraordinary day devoted entirely to children's Jewish literature programming presented together with the Schwartz/Reisman Centre.
