Clint Neufeld
CLINT NEUFELD: PIPE DREAMS OF MADAME RÉCAMIER
January 10 to March 3, 2013
Koffler Gallery Off-Site at General Hardware Contemporary
1520 Queen St. West | OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, January 10, 2013, 6 - 9 PM
For several years, Neufeld has been working with the most "Saskatchewan" of forms: engines, excavating buckets, and other mechanical devices and tools employed throughout the province. His sculptures, however, are not made with industrial materials but rather lovingly handcrafted from delicate substances such as painted ceramic, porcelain and wax, and paired with domestic furniture, doilies and other parlor accoutrements. Beautiful and meaningful, Neufeld's objects speak to notions of art making, aesthetics and identity politics on both a national and very regional level.
