HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

The Caregiver Show 2014 - Toronto

Anyone who knows us...knows we are huge fans of Teepa Snow!

Teepa is the most amazing advocate for people living with dementia. She has made it her personal mission to help families and professionals better understand how it feels to be living with dementia related challenges and change. Her goal? Making a difference...one mind at a time.

We first met Teepa at a National Association of Senior Move Managers Conference in 2012. Two minutes into her presentation, we knew we had to bring her to Toronto to share her message.

With incredible support from our pals, Marg Middleton and Ronit White at Metroland Media, we were thrilled to introduce Teepa Snow to an enthusiastic audience at The Caregiver Show last May.

On May 30, 2015, Teepa returns to Toronto for The Caregiver Show to share her insights into living with dementia. Watch this space for more details...

Did you know that 36% of Canadians know someone living with Alzheimer's Disease? In the spirit of the season, we would like to SHARE Teepa's "Holiday Tips for Everyone Living with Dementia".

Tips for the Person with Dementia:
  • Let people know when you need a break or are having trouble.
  • Do what you enjoy.

Tips for Care Partners:

  • Keep gatherings smaller and visits shorter.
  • Encourage visitors to understand before they begin interacting.

Tips for Visitors:

  • Start by looking friendly and offering your hand in a handshake.
  • Introduce yourself by name, then PAUSE. If the person still doesn't seem to 'know you', give them a little more background information..

Are you caring for or visiting a loved one with dementia over the holidays? Ceck out the rest of Teepa's  Holiday Tips.
