Give yourself the gift of well-being...

Traditionally, it is a hectic time of year! There are parties to plan, friends to visit, shopping to be done and a "to-do" list that goes on and on and on...

Have you thought about giving yourself a gift this holiday season?

I recently attended The Art of...Leadership and had the pleasure of listening to Arianna Huffington of Huffington Post speak about her new book, "Thrive" and her new definition of success.

Traditionally, success is defined in terms of money and power. Over the long term, money and power by themselves are like a three-legged stool - you can balance on them for a while, but eventually you're going to topple over."

Gordon Ching shares some insight into the book in his Huffington Post article, Redefining Success - Lessons from Arianna Huffington's Thrive. Read more...

Gordon's article forms the basis for our Diva Challenge this month!

Diva Challenge for NOVEMBER...

Here are 10 ways to bring more well-being to your life:

  1. Finish things.    Reduce your baggage and the mental weight you carry. Did you know you can complete a project by dropping it?
  2. Experience wonder.    Let yourself discover and dream.
  3. Remove poison.    If there is something or someone toxic in your life, remove it. Don't hold grudges.
  4. Sleep more.    When you discover your natural sleeping hours and begin to wake up naturally and feel refreshed.
  5. Practice mindfulness.    Take breaks in your day and be 100% present. Live in the moment.
  6. Digitally disconnect.    Go digital-free for an hour or two and you will see things differently. Experience deeper connections with people. The world is full of wonders...just look up.
  7. Meditate.    Meditation isn't just for old people. Try a deep breathing exercise before you sleep or the next time you're stressed.
  8. Give.    Generosity is huge to unlocking happiness. How great does it feel when you help or give to others and ask for nothing back? Do something nice for somebody every day -- whether it is a compliment or a small gift.
  9. Learn to say NO.    Ask yourself, "Do I really need to do this?" Don't overwhelm yourself by taking on projects you are not interested in. As Arianna says, "NO is a complete sentence."
  10. Schedule Personal time.   Make time to rediscover and recharge at your own pace. Take a warm bath, practice deep breathing, banish LCD screens temporarily, take a long walk and be comfortable in your own skin.
