It's a great time to be a DIva!

Welcome Pauline!
Pauline - Welcome to Team Diva!
(L-R) - Gail - Pauline - Karen

What a whirlwind month we have had at Downsizing Diva - Toronto East + North York. So many things have been happening that we wanted to share some of them with you...

On April 1st, we celebrated our FOURTH Anniversary working together as Partners in Downsizing Diva - the Franchise Company! Where did the time go? Although we have been Senior Move Managers since 2001, we were friendly-competitors in those early years. Now we know it is much more fun working with a Business Partner - the "highs" are higher and the "lows", well they're not as low when you have someone to share them with.

In April, we had a wonderful time working with our newest Franchisee -- Pauline Bullock who will be helping Diva clients in Muskoka AND Burlington. Welcome to the Diva Team, Pauline! We are also thrilled to announce the total number of Downsizing Diva Franchises is now 14!

Right now, we are working on an amazing project - and we're asking you to hold the date -- May 14, 2014! We have teamed up with some amazing partners and are putting the finishing touches on the event. Details will be available soon, so, as they say..."watch this space".

Downsizing Diva Toronto East + North York is now committed to walking in the 2013 Weekend to End Women's Cancers - a two-day event with funds going to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Cancer has touched all of our lives and we want to do what we can to help find a cure. Since this is a fund-raiser, we will be contacting many of you directly to ask you to consider supporting us in the walk. By the way, if you would like to join TEAM DIVA, give us a call at (416) 757-0319. The more, the merrier!

Here's to another exciting month!!

Take The Elephant Challenge!

Q:        How do you eat an elephant?

A:         One bite at a time.

Many people think downsizing is an OVERWHELMING task, so they are reluctant to even begin.  We received such great feedback for our "Hey, Gotta Minute" ideas in February, that we're back with some more organizing/downsizing tasks we're calling...'The Elephant Challenge".

  1. Try your summer shoes/sandals. Do they still fit? If not, donate them to your favourite charity.
  1. Organize your jewellery box. Match up earrings and untie all the chains. Give them a quick polish too.
  1. Clean your "junk" drawer - everybody has one! Toss anything that is totally useless.
  1. Check your coffee mug collection and keep only the mugs you LOVE to use.
  1. Check your medicine cabinet and dispose of expired medications responsibly.
  1. Be ruthless with bath towels - frayed or discoloured towels can be donated to your local Humane Society or Animal Shelter.
  1. Sort mitten/glove drawers and discard any "orphans" you find in the mix.
  1. Fresh herbs and spices enhance your cooking and baking. Replace spices if they are past their "best-before date".
  1. Fill a box with HHW - Household Hazardous Waste -- and take the box to your local Transfer Station. OOOPS...Delivery may take longer than 20 minutes!
  1. Light up your life by cleaning ceiling and light fixtures, bulbs and shades to make them sparkle.

Diva Thought for May:
Here's to the crazy ones...

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
