Shake off the winter funk, and replace it with the hot music kind on Saturday, March 29th at 7:30 p.m. at Rock the Cause's signature event, Glitter Ball 5: Funk & Soul Express! Funk is derived from the French word funquer which means to give off smoke, and the atrium of the historic Grain Belt Bottling House in Northeast Minneapolis, will be transformed into a blazing inferno of music, fashion, and charitable giving
Rock the Cause's chosen beneficiary and partner for the event is Ampersand Families, which champions practices in adoption and permanency that restore belonging, dignity and hope for youth.
Critically acclaimed headliner, Black Joe Lewis, an American blues, funk and soul artist out of Austin, Texas, is often compared to the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Black Joe Lewis will be back with his 10-piece band for a rare Twin Cities appearance after a sold out First Avenue concert in October last year.

Guests are encouraged to dress in 70s funkadelic-inspired fashion. To get the crowd into the spirit Glitter Ball 5 partner, Jungle Red, a full service salon spa and gallery in Minneapolis, will open Glitter Ball with a fashion runway show with models in fierce hairstyles and fashions by local boutiques Blush By Kay, Cliche, King Brothers Clothiers and MOTTO.
Jungle Red is a longtime supporter of Rock the Cause, as well as other community causes. Rock the Cause will also be making a donation from Glitter Ball 5 proceeds to Jungle Red's Treasures for Teens program that supports Avenue For Homeless Youth. Donation amount TBA in April 2014.
To help the crowd feel groovy, a bar presented by Red Stag Supper Club, will serve a variety of wine, beer and spirits with 100% of the net bar proceeds going to work in the community through this partnership with Rock the Cause. Beer sponsor Schell's Brewery will feature handcrafted beer including the very apropos Nordeast Premium.
