Your Business.  Your Voice.  Your Chamber.
Hello Chamberland...

If you thought the summer, sun, heat, and oh-so-tempting lake weather would mean slower days at the Terrace Chamber, I do have to inform you otherwise...

The Chamber has been busy this month, and we look forward to the next few months' activity. We've started going out to member businesses and chatting with the owners/managers about how business is going, and if there's anything else the Chamber can do to assist our business community. This is a chance to hear from you, our members, and have a face-to-face conversation. I look forward to chatting with each of you over the summer.

We're also touching base with you via email and survey to hear what you think about our current luncheon format - costs, times, frequency, guest speakers, please let us know your thoughts! See below for more details on this chance to help us improve and win a gift certificate!

On July 18th, we are pleased to present CAPP at a breakfast presentation and Q&A. Please click here to register for this event!

I can't believe it's already on the radar, but we are also starting to plan the 2016 Business Excellence Awards! We will be reaching out to all our generous sponsors shortly, and starting to plan our nomination / voting schedule. If you are interested in being a sponsor of this fantastic community event, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at the Chamber office. I look forward to bringing your more information on this year's BEA soon!

Wishing you a wonderful summer,

Erika Magnuson-Ford
We want to hear from you!
The Terrace Chamber wants to hear from you! Please take five minutes to fill out our survey and be entered to WIN a $30 gift card from Wings Tap & Grill.

We strive to bring in relevant guest speakers, use great venues, and bring value to our luncheons. Please fill out this ten-question survey to let us know what's working (or not!) at these luncheons.

Thanks for your time! The draw will take place August 1st.

Congratulations Val Litwin as new BC Chamber

"Entrepreneur and local Chamber leader Val Litwin will join the BC Chamber of Commerce as its new President and CEO.
Litwin, who begins the new role September 7, 2016, brings with him a substantial business and social enterprise background as well as strong Chamber leadership experience.
Over the past months, the BC Chamber Board worked with executive search firm Davies Park to lead a thorough executive search process.
"We were very fortunate to have an extremely talented group of candidates express interest in the position," said BC Chamber Board Chair Patrick Giesbrecht. "And Val's unique strengths and experience made him truly the standout candidate." ... Click here to read more..."

The Terrace Chamber would like to congratulate Val in his new role; already part of the Chamber Network through the Whistler Chamber, we believe Val will bring great energy and leadership to the BC Chamber of Commerce and its membership.

Childcare and Summer Camps at Spruce Moose Studios!  Register now!

At Spruce Moose Studios, we offer fun-filled, artistic and educational experiences that build a child's self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-efficacy.  On a daily basis, we work on self-discipline, self-control, listening skills, and the ability to focus.    Oh yeah - and we also do art - lots of art! We introduce the mediums we are working in and share techniques and coach some skills, but our focus is always on process - exploring the imagination and encouraging creative expression and the learning and growth that naturally follow.  Art is personal and subjective and we journey without expectation of fixed outcomes.  We explore different themes and projects in our Summer Camps.

To see our camp descriptions and dates, please click here.  These camps are for children 6-12, although we have a few weekend options for 12-16 year olds.  Summer camps begin on July 4, 2016.

Sign up for summer childcare at the normal daily rate and enjoy extended hours between 8am-5:30pm for no additional fee.

Cost Break down of Summer Camps and full day childcare:

$45 per day.

Our camps are 6 hours long (9am-3:30pm)
$6 per hour x 6.5 hours = $39
$39 plus ($6 daily art supply fee) = $45

Dear friends of ThriveNorth,

As many of you know, we had our 2016 ThriveNorth Business Challenge last month. It was a great success and I wanted to share some updates. Through this competition, we focused on providing valuable training, coaching, funding and support to emerging entrepreneurs while connecting them to a group of their peers.

We are excited to share with you a highlight video of the 2016 ThriveNorth Business Challenge Finals and Awards Ceremony on May 7th in Terrace. Check it out here. This video showcases the energy and excitement of the day, while celebrating the outstanding work of young people starting businesses in Northwest B.C. You can also check out the ThriveNorth blog to read more about participants and the Media page to see some of the great coverage they received.

Finally, to learn more about some of the other amazing entrepreneurs we work with in your community, check out these two videos (which shown at the Awards Ceremony):
Thank you again for your continued support as we work to help emerging entrepreneurs thrive in the Northwest region of British Columbia.

All the best,
