The players had a fantastic tournament in Bahamas. It was a fiercely fought tournament for our players with some very close games as well as big wins.
There were two games that we won quite easily, beating BVI 3-0 and LIS 4-0. In these two games, we were able to play free flowing football because we were able to match our opponents physically and outclass them with skills.
We lost two games out of seven in the tournament; 2-0 to St. Andrews and 4-2 to Lyford Yellow. These were two very exciting games, end to end action. We had equal amounts of opportunities as our opponents to score goals, but didn't always capitalize on them and in the end we came up short.
We had three matches where we won: 1-0 including Codrington from Barbados in the preliminary round and again in the 3rd place play off. These two games were neck and neck from start to finish, the Codrington boys played a very physical game. However, despite this, we maintained composure and showed great resilience to beat them on both occasions.
At the end of the tournament even though we did not win any trophies, all the players, as well as coaches left the Bahamas feeling proud knowing that we all tried our best in representing AISK with excellence and integrity.
Coaches Patricia Ransom & Karl Savoury
First game vs Lyford Cay Dragons: 5-0
Due to nerves, the girls did not play to their full potential.
Second game vs Lucaya: 1-0
Much better game. Girls improved their skills massively, however they just couldn't put the ball behind the keeper (a number of crossbar moments).
Third game vs Lyford Cay Dragonettes: 0-5
AISK came alive!! The girls woke up on day 2 ready to play soccer and dominated the field. Kelsie Constable scored all 5 goals.
Fourth game vs St. Andrews: 4-2
The girls played extremely well against a group of very tough and large girl's team. They held their own and managed to get a few goals, however it wasn't enough to win the game. Kelsie Constable scored both goals.
FINALS
The girls finished 4th overall and had to play the 3rd place team. This game was for 3rd place against Lucaya which was the team they lost to on the first day.
The girls worked together for the entire game and continued to improve their skills throughout the game. They had drive and determination and worked hard for a 3-1 win over Lucaya. Our scoring machine, Kelsie Constable scored all 3 goals for a total of 10 goals in one day!!
All of the girls on the team have improved their soccer skills immensely in the areas of passing, positioning, defending, control and scoring. It was fantastic to see and we are extremely proud of their improvements and look forward to seeing them grow over the next few years.
