News of Note:

 
1.  HUD issued a Letter to PHAs on the RAD Waiting List, detailing the current status of the 1st component of RAD for public and Mod Rehab housing and anticipated next steps with the demonstration. [Additional resources: RAD web page]
  
2.  HUD's Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) has released a
draft notice that outlines CPD's strategy for monitoring responsible entities that perform environmental reviews under 24 CFR Part 58.  Coming shortly after the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) published its audit of environmental reviews conducted by the Boston Office of Public Housing and OIG's comments in that report about a forthcoming nationwide audit report, this appears to be another sign that HUD's scrutiny of responsible entities and their environmental reviews is likely to continue.     

3.  CPD also released a separate draft notice that provides guidance on conducting risk analysis of CPD grantees and programs. 

4. 
The Urban Land Institute Terwilliger Center for Housing and Enterprise released Bending the Cost Curve on Affordable Rental Development, the culmination of a 5-city research effort that began in 2012, which identifies common drivers of affordable housing development costs and recommended actions to bend the cost curve.
