News of Note:

    

1.  HUD released a list of all RAD projects with units under the 60,000-unit cap and HUD's PHA RAD waiting list. If authority within the 60,000-unit cap becomes available, HUD will draw projects from the waiting list.

2. Notice on Appeals for the FY2013-2014 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Competition provides appeal options to applicants for the following types of appeals: Solo Applicants; Denied or Decreased Funding; Consolidated Plan Certification; and Competing CoCs. See the NOFA for the FYs2013 and 2014 CoC Program Competition. The deadline for CoC FY2013-2014 funds and project applications is 7:59:59pm EST, February 3, 2014.
 
3. George L. Weidenfeller spoke yesterday at the National Leased Housing Association's Owners/Developers Workshop
on Consequences of Partial Section 8 Funding.  Unless Congress comes up with additional funding, HUD will not be able to fully meet all HAP obligations.  What is the impact and what options exist for owners?
  • Terminate the HAP
  • Sue for damages
  • Raise the rents
  • Will there be tenant protection vouchers?
  • Other scenarios

This provides guidance on the requirements of Section 201(b) of NAHASDA, the recent revisions to the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) regulations that became effective on January 3, 2013, and replaces PIH Notice 1999-6.
