News of Note:

1.  HUD is consolidating Multifamily Hubs and closing 16 offices to affect approximately 900 of HUD's 9,000 employees during the restructuring process, being implemented this fall

and taking place over the next two and a half years.  Every affected employee will be offered  the opportunity to continue working for HUD, though in some cases in a new location or role. Additional information.

2.  From HUD's Energy Report to Congress: The Energy Innovation Fund grantees are leveraging private capital and public funding and conducting applied research to find solutions to energy efficiency and renewable energy investment in current affordable multifamily properties. See the report for specific energy efficiency activities undertaken by HUD, such as expanding the financing availability for home energy improvements through FHA's Title I PowerSaver pilot program.

3.  Notice PIH 2013-09 announces that the obligation deadline in Section 6 of Notice PIH 2012-2 has expired based on the Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013 (P.L 113)-6. Therefore, PHAs with 250 or more public housing units may now only use operating reserves for capital improvements through the Operating Fund Financing Program.
