News of Note:
1. New book release! R&C announces the release of Navigating HUD Programs: A Practitioner's Guide to the Labyrinth, a guide to HUD funding and regulatory programs, edited by R&C's Julie S. McGovern and George L. Weidenfeller. Below, please find additional information.
- Projects with HUD funding face a web of regulations covering both the specific program and all HUD-funded activities. From the ABA Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law, this guide explains the full spectrum of HUD funding and regulatory programs in a clear, usable format.
- Includes contributions from former HUD counsel and staff, and lawyers with specialized expertise in key areas, including the following R&C attorneys:
- N. Linda Goldstein: "Looking to the Future--The Heat Is On: Trimming HUD's Energy Bill for Public and Privately Owned Assisted Housing"
- Melissa Worden: "Public Housing Operations"
- Laura Schwarz: "Community Planning and Development: Emerging Neighborhood Stabilization Programs"

2. HUD will be issuing New Physical Needs Assessment and Energy Audit Requirements in summer 2012 to require the synchronization of Energy Audits and Physical Needs Assessments into the Green Physical Needs Assessment (Green PNA), and will require measuring the cost effectiveness of energy conservation measures.
