News of Note:
1. R&C has been informed by a senior HUD official that the comment period on the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) implementing notice will be extended to April 23, 2012. An extension notice will be published in the Federal Register in the next several days.
2. Another deadline extension: Applications for the NOFA for the Performance-Based Contract Administrator (PBCA) Program for the Administration of Project-Based Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments Contracts are now due June 11, 2012.
3. The Housing and Development Law Institute's 2012 Spring CLE Conference is May 3-4 in Washington, DC. Please find the application for the conference here.
4. Comments for the following 2 HUD proposed rules are due May 29, 2012:
a) Public Housing and Section 8 Programs: Housing Choice Voucher Program: Streamlining the Portability Process -- An attempt to clarify requirements already established in the existing regulations and improve the portability requests process for clearer understanding.
b) Streamlining Requirements Governing the Use of Funding for Supportive Housing for the Elderly and Persons With Disabilities Programs -- HUD seeks to amend its regulations governing the Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program (Section 202) and the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Program (Section 811) by streamlining the requirements for mixed-finance developments by removing restrictions on the portions of developments not funded through capital advances, thereby lifting barriers on participation in the development of the projects, and eliminating burdensome funding requirements.
