News of Note:

  1. R&C issues comments on HUD draft regulation on the HOME Investment Partnerships Program: Improving Performance and Accountability; and Updating Property Standards.  To read R&C's comments, click here.
  2. The Presidential budget was released this week, including the FY 2013 HUD Budget.  To see more information on the budget, click here.
  3. Choice Neighborhood Implementation (CNI) Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA):  HUD is offering CNI Grants to Public Housing Authorities (PHAs), local governments, nonprofits, tribal entities, and for-profit developers that apply jointly with a public entity.  These grants support those communities that have undergone a local planning process and are ready to implement their transformation plan to redevelop the neighborhood.  Application Deadline:  April 1, 2012.  To view the CNI Grants NOFA and Funding Information, click here.

This notice explains the procedures public housing agencies (PHAs) are required to use for verifying social security numbers, social security benefits of applicants, participants and household members at the time of application for rental housing assistance programs and during mandatory reexamination of household income, as well as the procedures for effective use of EIV's Identity Verification Report to reduce subsidy payment and administrative errors. Similar guidance was issued under notice PIH-2010-03. This notice supersedes the aforementioned notice
