Elvis is in the building...a musical comedy based on Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and built around more than 20 Elvis Presley hits including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Heartbreak Hotel," "A Little Less Conversation," "Love Me Tender," and "Jailhouse Rock." From the book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, the story takes place in 1955, where a small, depressed town gets a visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing roustabout who helps them discover the magic of romance and the power of rock 'n roll.
Nightly performances in the Gillespy Theater at the News-Journal Center begin Friday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. and continue Saturday, Feb. 23, Thursday, Feb. 28, Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2. A matinee performance is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2:30 p.m.
Free to Daytona State College and Volusia and Flagler county students, all others $8 per person or $15 for two.
