News-Journal Center, 221 N. Beach Street, Daytona Beach | |
On Feb. 8, "Science Cheerleaders" will join rocket scientist Kantis Simmons and a host of other STEM professionals in what promises to be a day of inspiration and self-discovery for students during a first-ever STEM Expo, hosted by Daytona State College. More than 400 high school and college students are anticipated for the event, which is free and open to the general public. "The event is taking on a life of its own," Daytona State STEM Coordinator and Math Department Chair Marc Campbell said. "With the present discourse at the national, state and even local level regarding how technological innovation will lead our nation to a better future, we are really seeing a marked interest in STEM fields by students." For more information about the expo, or to RSVP, contact Campbell: (386) 506-3520 or CampbeM@DaytonaState.edu.
