august 2015

Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 75th issue of lemonade! The summer is really speeding by, the Folk Festival and soon the Jazz Festival will both be in the rear view mirror. There are many great events and activities competing for our precious time this month and as always, my favorites are below, but the most important thing is to make the most of each fleeting August day on our beautiful Aquidneck Island home.
See you at the beach! SallyAnne_/)

There are 3 films that I'm really looking forward to at the Jane Pickens Theater this month. On 8/5, Vanishing Sail follows one of the last practicing boat builders in the Lesser Antilles, 70 year old, Alwyn Enoe. The film, making it's US debut, follows Enoe's progress as he struggles to build one last sloop in time to race at the Antigua Classics. On 8/16, The Impressionists & The Man Who Made Them offers unparalleled access to one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of Impressionist artwork, while focusing on the man credited with inventing Impressionism as we know it: 19th century Parisian collector Paul Durand-Ruel. This film tells his story and that of the Impressionist artists themselves and features universally loved masterpieces by Monet, Degas, Cezanne, Renoir, Pissarro and many more. On 8/23, Faberge: A Life Of It's Own tells the epic story of the Faberge name, from Imperial Russia to the present-day, spanning one hundred and fifty years of turbulent history, romance, artistic development and commercial exploitation.
