Happy April! (no foolin')

Thanks to the folks at the Daffodillion project, Newport will soon be awash in a sea of daffodils, a very welcome sight after long months of winter white. This year, "Daffy" organizers have also planned the first Newport Daffodil Days Festival set to feature a number of events from 4/17-4/19, read more below and enjoy!

Daffodil Days The first Newport Daffodil Days Festival will feature three days of fun outdoor activities. On Friday, 4/17 there will be an Opening Ceremony at Bannister's & Bowen's Wharves with live music. On Saturday, 4/18 a Daffy Doggies Parade, Daffodil Delight at Hillside Garden, Tour de Jonquilles Bike Ride and Jazzy Bouquet Bar at Ballard Park. On Sunday, 4/19 Dabble & Doodle, Daffy Drive & Classic Car Display, Dance of the Daffodils Ballet and Bellevue House Private Garden Tour. See website for details. 

Daffodils Blithwold Garden's Annual Daffodil Days will feature many perennial favorite events through 4/26 including Hands On Workshops, Afternoon Teas, Daffodils at Dusk, Garden Tours, a Fairy Festival and more, visit their website for dates and details.

Pearly Baker Band Norey's on Broadway has live music on Wednesday evenings. This month they will host The Whiskey Boys on 4/1, Michael Tarbox on 4/8 and Brett Harris on 4/22.  Catch some local talent at one of two weekly open mics in Newport-- Tuesdays at the Wharf Pub and Ocean Mic, every Thursday night at Jimmy's Saloon.

Robben Ford The Narrow's Center for the Arts busy April schedule features Yarn and Driftwood on 4/3, Paul Barrere & Fred Tackett (of Little Feat) and the New Orleans Suspects on 4/9 Sierra Hull on 4/10, Cris Jacobs on 4/16, Suzy Bogguss on 4/17, Aztec Two Step on 4/18 and Robben Ford on 4/23.

Richard Thompson Venture to New Bedford (MA) to the beautiful Zeiterion Theatre to hear Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn on 4/12 and the Pearly Baker Band on 4/18. And finally, meet me at the Met Cafe to hear the incomparable Richard Thompson on 4/28.

How To Change The World Film Among the features to be screened at the Jane Pickens Theater this month are She's Beautiful When She's Angry on 4/6+4/7 and While We're Young from 4/10-4/16.  NewportFILM presents Coming Home on 4/12 and How To Change the World on Earth Day (4/22). The Newport Public LIbrary Hitchcock Series continues this month with Frenzy on 4/10 and Family Plot on 4/25.
