lemonade... good news from newport

march 2015

SallyAnne Santos
Hello MARCH!
(& good riddance February ;-)

This month we'll spring the clocks forward on 3/8 and look to the Vernal Equinox on 3/20 for longer days and, we hope, a hint of milder weather ahead.

Newporters love St. Patrick's day, highlighted each year our Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, the 59th edition will take place on Saturday, 3/14. Can spectators, parade marchers and tiny clown cars cope with the snow mountains lining our streets? I'm not sure how, but I do know that they will find a way, because nothing can stop St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Newport!

Best,

Foghorn Stringband Common Fence Music features Garnet Rogers on 3/7, Tall Heights on 3/14, The Foghorn Stringband on 3/21 and Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys on 3/28. Among the great concerts at the Narrow's Center for the Arts this month are Asleep at the Wheel on 3/6, Jorma Kaukonen on 3/12, Jimmie Vaughan & the Tilt-A-Whirl Band on 3/15 and Todd Snider on 3/21. I first learned of Todd Snider in January on Cayamo, he is truly like none other, I highly recommend this show!

Norey's on Broadway has become my new favorite LOCAL venue, with live music every Wednesday night! This month they will host Greg Klyma on 3/4 and experimental rock country music (I like the sound of that), by The Jack Grace Band on 3/18. And finally don't forget about Ocean Mic, where you can hear up and coming local artists every Thursday night at Jimmy's Saloon!
