Happy February!

With Blizzard Juno and lots of shoveling behind us, let's treat ourselves to some good live music to warm the heart and soul this month. I have lots of suggestions for you below in addition to all of the activities of the annual Newport Winter Festival from 2/13-2/22.

Lisa MillsDO NOT MISS Lisa Mills at Norey's on 2/4! I recently had the good luck and pleasure to meet Lisa and hear her perform at Cayamo, she was absolutely fantastic... I was thrilled to learn that she is playing in Newport this month... see you there! You can also catch Kevin Connolly Band at Norey's on 2/25.

February highlights at the Dr. JohnNarrow's Center for the Arts include Samantha Fish on 2/6, Red Molly on 2/7, The Holmes Brothers on 2/13, Albert Lee Band on 2/14, Ellen Jewell Band on 2/21, and Dr. John and the Nite Trippers on 2/24! Wrap up the month with Tab Benoit on 2/26, and Greg Brown on 2/28. Patty Larkin appears at Common Fence Music on 2/7, Tall Heights on 2/14 and Lori McKenna on 2/28.

For something completely different... hear world renown classical guitarist Diego Campagna at the Redwood Library on 2/7.

The Birds The Newport Public Library's Hitchcock Series continues with The Birds on 2/13 and Marnie on 2/27. The Jane Picken's Theater hosts Oscar Shorts from 2/7-2/12, a Tribute to Miles Davis on 2/19 and the National Theatre Live : performance of Treasure Island on 2/20.

Newport Winter Festival Festival highlights include perennial favorites Beatlemania (2/13), Chilli (2/14) & Chicken Wing (2/21) Cook-Offs, Tropical Drink (2/15), Martini (2/18) and Hot Drink (2/19) Contests, Beach Polo (2/21-22), Festival Day at Easton's Beach (2/22) and Newport Historical Society walking tours throughout the month: 
  • 2/13: Lantern Tour of Colonial Newport
  • 2/14: Rogues and Scoundrels
  • 2/14: 1820, Life at the Whitehorne House
  • 2/15: Commerce & Craftsmanship: The Point
  • 2/16: Colonial Newport
  • 2/17: Road to Independence
  • 2/18: Golden to Gilded Walking Tour
  • 2/19: Rogues & Scoundrels
  • 2/20: History Detective
  • 2/21: The Stamp Act Riot & Road to Revolution
