Hello June!

Can you believe it? Memorial Day is already behind us! It seems like just yesterday we were bemoaning the polar vortex while shoveling mountains of snow!

There is so much going on this month, you hardly need my help to find something to do, but here are a few of my favorites anyway... have fun!

5K Season is upon us, a few fun runs this month include: the 15th Annual Revenge of Jo's Lounge 5K on 6/13, the 8th Annual Norman Bird Sanctuary 5K on 6/14, the Colt State Park 5K on 6/25 and The 16th Annual Red Rooster Ramble 5 Mile Road Race Series will be held on 6/5, 6/12 & 6/19. If you'd rather roll, the 2nd Annual Elliot Kaminitz Father's Day Ride will be held on 6/15.

The month, my favorite music venue, the Narrow's Center for the Arts features Carolyn Wonderland on 6/5, Johnny Hoy & the Bluefish on 6/7, Willie Nile on 6/14, Band of Heathens on 6/18, local legend Duke Robillard on 6/21, The London Souls on 6/26 and Ellis Paul on 6/27. Closer to home Norey's on Broadway hosts Dynamite Johnny on 6/4, Michelle Cruz on 6/11 and Billy n' Gabi on 6/25. The Ganny welcomes Mr. Nick & The Dirty Tricks on 6/1, Shiny Lapel Trio on 6/5, the Heavy Rescue Band on 6/6, Detroit Breakdown on 6/7 and the Mike Crandall Band for Sunday afternoon blues on 6/8. and The Newport Summer Concert Series continues on 6/20 with Ziggy Marley - Fly Rasta. Let there be music to fill the air...

Some of the most significant sailing events of the season take place this month starting with the Leukemia Cup regatta on 6/7 followed by the C. Thomas Clagett Jr. Memorial Clinic & Regatta from 6/12-6/15. The New York Yacht Club hosts their 160th Annual Regatta presented by Rolex from 6/13-6/15. Then many boats will leave our area for a bit as they sail away in the Newport to Bermuda Race which starts on 6/20. Sail Fast & Stay Safe All!

At Bristol's Blithewold Gardens you can make Homegrown Bouquets with Gail Read on 6/5, enjoy a "Plantiful" Plant Walk on 6/8 or bring the little green thumbs to a Children's Terrarium Workshop on 6/28. Rough Point hosts Landscape History and Garden Tours on 6/10 & 6/17. On 6/14, the SVF Foundation swings opens the Swiss Village gates to everyone for their Annual Visitors Day. Secret Garden Spring Tours take place from 6/20-6/-22 followed by the Newport Flower Show at Rosecliff from 6/27-6/29. Finally, I can't wait for the Trinity Church Strawberry Festival on 6/14!
