Brookwood Teacher of the Year Finalists
Teachers Angie McLane, Colleen Blankenship and Stephanie Timmons are finalist for our Teacher of the Year. On Sept. 1, BHS will announce the winner.

Open House at Brookwood High School
Monday, Sept. 12, 6:45 p.m. Begin in The Commons for a brief PTSA meeting, then walk your student's schedule to hear each teacher's presentation.

Academic Intervention Begins Tuesday, Aug. 30.
Students who failed two or more courses on their spring semester report card must attend Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first 35 minutes of extended lunch. Report to the Gold Gym for free, in-school tutoring, make-up opportunities, and time to study and complete homework.

Teen Volunteer of the Year Nominations
BHS can nominate one senior to compete in the Teen Volunteer of the Year Program. If you are interested in nomination, see Mrs. Varzaly in Counseling, A1.

Interested in the military? The ASVAB will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1. (ASVAB - a measurement of developed abilities that helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military). Sign up in A1.

SAT/ACT PREP

Brookwood SAT Prep Course
BHS's after-school SAT prep classes will run Oct. 4-20, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Instructors are Mr. Kling (Verbal) and Mr. Michael (Math), and the cost is $99. Sign up through our Community School page. 

Area Courses: SAT/ACT Prep and Practice
Total Learning Concepts and C2 Education are offering free, on-site practice tests this fall. Visit our Counseling page under the Directory tab on the BHS website, and click College Planning to view details.

Orchestra Tailgate 
Friday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m.  Tailgate party for orchestra students and their families. Meet at the horseshoe in front of the school, from 6 - 7:15 p.m. Please bring food to share, Frisbees and soccer balls.

Blood Drive at Brookwood

Youth Basketball Registration
Brookwood Basketball Association's discounted registration opens Sept. 1 at brookwoodbasketball.com. Practices begin Oct. 15.


Amateur Photography Contest
Gwinnett County Parks is accepting entries from all ages for its "Play, Live, Learn" photo contest. Deadline: Oct. 27.  See the contest flyer for details. 


Calling All Senior Boys!
Sign up in D6 by Sept. 16. Contestants will rehearse with our dance department, perform for friends and family, and vie for the crown of Mr. Brookwood 2016. The show is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, 7 p.m.

Reading Club
Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2:30 p.m. in the Media Center. All grade levels are welcome. Share what you've been reading. No dues. 

French Club
Sept. 22, 2:25 p.m. in A24. Pay dues via MMP before the meeting. Enjoy pizza and pétanque, a traditional French bowling game similar to bocce. Wear your tie-dyed French club T-shirt for family bonus points.

Quidditch Club

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)
