Academics and Administration

Academic Intervention starts Thursday, Jan. 14, in the Gold Gym during extended lunch for any student who failed two or more courses on his/her first semester report card. 

STEAM Symposium with Four Guest Speakers
Tuesday, Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m. in the BHS Theater. Listen to a molecular biologist, forensic chemist, digital security analyst and former AOL executive discuss STEAM careers. Afterward, come to The Commons to meet these and other STEAM professionals and explore artifacts on display.


Students taking Spanish
We highly encourage students in Honors Spanish 3, Spanish 4, and AP Spanish to take the National Spanish Exam in March. Register now through Jan. 27; the fee is $6. Visit MyPaymentsPlus, select the National Spanish Exam under the testing tab, and our Spanish teachers will handle the rest of the process.

Each day of the two sessions, our Media Specialists will show a different video to help prepare for the SAT. Come to the Media Center, 2:30-3 p.m. No sign-up required. 
Session 1 - Language Arts: Jan. 12, 13 and 14. 
Session 2 - Math: Jan. 19, 20, 21 and 22.

Brookwood Community School's SAT prep course is led by BHS teachers Dana Kling and Chris Michael. The 6-session course costs $94 and includes an official SAT test book. See this flyer for dates and details. 

Pay graduation fees to Balfour, Jan. 21 and 22, when they return to campus. The fee is $100 and covers a cap, gown, diploma and other related items. Balfour will also take jackets, ring and announcements orders.

College-Bound Broncos and Other Adventurers
Seniors can help us start to update the "College-Bound Broncos" wall in B Hall by adding their name to the clip board in A36. Seniors who will join the military or take on other endeavors should also add their information.

ASVAB Registration
Friday, Feb. 5, during periods 1-4, we will administer the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The ASVAB is free and measures vocational aptitudes and career strengths. You do not have to be interested in the military to register. Sign up in A1 before Feb. 2.

BHS Orchestra Hosts Atlanta Gladiators Night
January 15 - Get $15 premium seats (a $23 value) and see our Orchestra perform The Star-Spangled Banner before you watch the game. This evening supports our BHS Orchestra and is fun for the whole family.

Thursday, Feb. 4. State Thespian Conference at the Springer Opera House in Columbus, where BHS Theater will perform its One Act version of Zombie Prom

BHS Talent Show 
Friday, Jan. 15, 7 p.m. in BHS Theater. At this showcase, the audience votes for the winner. All proceeds support students in the arts. Sponsored by Pegasus magazine. Tickets will be $10 at the door and $8 when purchased at lunch.


35th Annual Miss Brookwood Scholarship Pageant
Friday, Jan. 30, 7 p.m. in BHS Theater. This is our PTSA's sole fundraiser. Funds provide scholarships and educational tools, the BHS job fair and Project Graduation.

Lacrosse Tryouts
Jan. 16, 1:30 p.m. in the Stadium, Conditioning test for all boys and girls interested in BSH Lacrosse.
Jan. 25, first day of tryouts: Girls at 2:30 p.m. and boys at 4:15 p.m. 

Soccer Tryouts 
Boys: Jan. 11-15, 2:45 p.m., conditioning in the Stadium. Tryouts will begin Jan. 18 and 19. Players will need a valid physical, concussion test and concussion form on file. All players must first see Coach Stephen George in A46. 
Girls: Jan. 18 is the first day of tryouts. Potential players must complete and submit the 2015-16 physical form to Coach Carithers in C23B.

Golf Tryouts
