A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL FORD

Greetings!

As the holidays approach, I would like to acknowledge the good fortune we have at Brookwood and thank our students, staff and community for making us a powerhouse school, year after year. We have one of the nation's largest high school populations, yet we succeed in making our campus friendly and familiar.

We have kind, talented and hardworking students, many of whom we honor through awards and programs for their achievements, leadership, efforts and good deeds.

Currently, we have monthly Departmental Awards for students who show significant improvement or an exemplary work ethic, monthly Bronco Service Awards for some of the many good deeds around campus, the Brookwood Upstander program that is currently unfolding to further encourage and reward  good citizenship, advocacy, respect and engagement, and a range of Honors program nights throughout the year.

Leadership organizations and programs include our student government (SGA), Peer Leaders program, the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, and participation in the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team.

Our academics, athletics and the arts programs win championship titles and top rankings and donate time and money to charities. I am proud to say that we are a servant-oriented school community.

For every standout who wins public recognition, we have another who contributes to our school with his own positive actions. For both groups, I am truly grateful. Many thanks to them and to you for supporting Brookwood and setting your sights on a second semester of continued good fortune.

Go Broncos!

William Bo Ford, Jr.

Brookwood Captures Region Titles

From cross country to theater, softball to academics, Brookwood teams reigned champion this fall season across the spectrum.

Our Academic team won the

Region Championship, making this the 27th consecutive year that Brookwood has qualified for the

National Tournament.

Our Cross Country Broncos and Lady Broncos won region titles, with the top runner from each team, David Giuliano and Lauren Flynt, coming in first. Our boys' cross country team was also State Runner-Up, and all seven of its varsity runners earned All-County status.

Our Softball team had a great season too, winning the region title and making it to the Final Four at State Playoffs. Junior Amanda Ablan

earned Gwinnett Daily Post Pitcher of the Year for the second year.  She and fellow junior, Kayla Louie, were named to the All-State AAAAAA First Team.

Lady Broncos Volleyball, also region champions, made it all the way to the Elite Eight at State Playoffs. They kept us cheering with every ace, hit, assist and kill.

On stage, students from the Brookwood Theatre Department
won praise, applause and a shiny first place trophy at the One Act Play regional competition. The group's production of "Unrinetown" was hilarious and well acted.

Clearly, Broncos like to win!

We Care

To date, Brookwood's clubs and events have raised more than $44,000 for charities, nearly halfway to our $100K challenge for this school year. During HHH Week, our students and staff raised $14,540 for Helping Hands and Hearts, and at the recent Powder Puff game, we generated another $1,300 specifically for the cause. Brookwood established Helping Hands and Hearts to provide temporary remedies for Brookwood families who are experiencing a period of financial hardship and to help the students who are affected.
