Members of BHS's Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, along with students five other Metro Atlanta schools, packed 92,000 meals on Thursday to be shipped all over the world for those in need.
The one-day event took place in numerous states producing 1 million meals.
Academics

Monday, October 13, is a Student Holiday!

PSAT will be administered on October 15.

Free tutoring for 9th graders:  Freshman Academy for Math and Biology is in full swing Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch in the Gold Gym. Take advantage of this free resource to ask questions to Brookwood teachers and from students from our National Honor Society and Beta Club. Sign up in the 9th grade office. Each session lasts 35 minutes, then students are dismissed for lunch.

Seniors applying to Georgia Gwinnett College:  GGC will waive its $20 application fee, from October 18 through November 21. No special code necessary. Submit applications through GaCollege411.org.  

BHS Science Olympiad students earned certificates in 13 of 16 events at last weekend's tournament.

Brookwood Community School offers a 6-class SAT Prep series for $94, October 20 - November 5, Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Additionally, the BHS Media Center offers free videos October 28-30 and November 3-6.  Learn more about the classes.

Fine Arts

Theater 

October 16 and 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Theater. BHS's first musical production of the year is Urinetown, a satirical comedy full of songs and laughter. 

 

Students in Art Club and National Art Honor Society created and donated pumpkins now on display in the Media Center. Faculty and Staff will bid on the works of art over the next two weeks and take home their favorites. Proceeds will go to Helping Hands and Hearts (HHH). 

 

Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra

Friday, October 10, 6:45-7:30 p.m. at the Southern Music Foundation's "Hall of Fame." Our musicians, the only student group participating, will perform by the red carpet to welcome music producers and celebrities. Address: 200 Peachtree Street

Outdoor Club will meet October 15 in The Commons at 2:20 p.m. The club's next trip is camping on the Chattooga River, October 24-25.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD)
will meet October 14, 2:20 p.m. in Room A43, focusing on alcohol and drug addiction awareness and recovery. The club meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month and is open to all students.

Key Club will meet October 20 at 7:00 p.m. in The Commons for service opportunities and cupcake decorating.

 

Reading Club will meet October 29, 2:30 p.m. in the Media Center to share scary book recommendations.

 

Parking spaces are available for Juniors. Apply for a spot by bringing a $15 check payable to Brookwood High School to the special parking class, October 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the Theater.  Direct any questions to Ms. Campbell in A36.

 

The 24th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair, sponsored by the Brookwood Tip Off Club / Basketball Booster Club, is November 8, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at BHS.

 

An American Red Cross Blood Drive is coming to BHS on October 21, 3:00-7:00 p.m., in The Commons. Visit redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor code brookwoodhs to make an appointment

 

Wonderful Wednesday is October 9.  This month's theme is Halloween and Horrors Team Trivia. Each team consists of four students. Sign up is in the Media Center.
