The Brookwood-Parkview football game TONIGHT is being recognized as a "Great American Rivalries" game, sponsored by the US Marine Corps. Join the community as the tradition continues when the Broncos take on the Panthers in Brookwood Community Stadium @ 7:30 p.m. It's a GOLD OUT for childhood cancer awareness.
Academics 

On September 30, 6:30 p.m. in the Commons Area, Brookwood will host a college fair. Over 100 college representatives will be in attendance. Colleges that will be at Brookwood. This is an "automated" fair. To save time filling out information cards, students may go to www.gotocollegefairs.com to create a barcode that can be scanned by reps at the fair.  More info at www.gaprobe.org/students

 

On October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Commons Area, parents and students are invited to Discover Duke. A Duke University admissions officer will present information & answer questions about the university, the admissions process, financial aid & more. Register online.

 

In preparation for the upcoming legislative session, the House & Senate education committees are planning listening sessions throughout the state with local superintendents, boards of education, teachers & parents. Rep. Valerie Clark & Sen. David Shafer will host a listening session for our community on October 10 @ Georgia Gwinnett College.  Details.

 

The Media Center will show 30-minute SAT Prep Videos after school free of charge. Sessions begin at 2:30 p.m. A different math video will be shown each day September 30, October 1, 2 & 3.

Connect to Brookwood 

The theme for this year's Mr. Brookwood pageant is "Brookwood Bandstand." The Dance Department is looking for 13 more contestants for the show. Must be a senior willing to perform one minute of a special talent & must be available October 22, 2:30-6:30 p.m. & October 23, 5:00-10:00 p.m. $25 entry free. See Ms. McCollister in D6. The Mr. Brookwood Pageant is October 23 during Homecoming Week.

The 389 members of SGA are busy planning Homecoming festivities for the whole community. Homecoming Dance tickets go on sale on www.mypaymentsplus.com today through October 11. Students will need to print a receipt, because they will have to swap the receipt for a ticket on October 16, 17 or 18 during lunch. Homecoming t-shirts are on sale for $10 through October 7 from a SGA member or Mrs. Hedrick in E1. Homecoming court applications will be available during lunch on October 1 & 3 in the Commons. Purchase your homecoming flowers from Daisy a Day on Scenic Highway & 5% of the sale goes to the Helping Hands & Hearts Program at Brookwood. HHH aids those in need in the Brookwood cluster. Just mention the coupon code: "I Support HHH" when ordering.

 

HHH will also run the coat check at the Homecoming Dance again this year. They hold purses, cameras, suit jackets, shoes & everything else students don't want to keep up with during the dance. The coat check will be in the Gold Gym ($1 per item or $5 per bag). Items must remain in coat check after they are checked. Students may want to wait until after pictures to check items.

 

Support the canned food drive put on by the Dance Department & SGA for the Great Day of Service. Canned food & non-perishable items can be dropped off in the dance room, in E1 or with a club sponsor.

 

Parents, we need your help. The Main Office cannot accept balloons, flowers or gifts to deliver to students. If you would like your child to be recognized on his/her birthday, you may order a balloon delivered by our school store by calling 678-344-3721.

Students interested in wrestling should attend an informational meeting & pick-up a registration packet on October 3, 2:20 p.m. in the Wrestling Room. Sports Physicals

Sports physicals will be offered at school for students who want to participate in winter sports, October 1, 6:30 p.m. in the Maroon Gym. $30 cash or check to your sport's booster club. Physical form must be signed by parent in advance.

Golf tourney to benefit Brookwood's baseball program, October 14 at Summit Chase. Details.

 

The Atlanta Braves will honor hometown hero (& beloved Brookwood grad) Justin Lansford at the last home game, September 29. Game time is 1:35 p.m. Lansford was wounded in 2012 in Afghanistan.
