Cute cheerleader  

Financial Aid meeting, September 
26, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Media Center. A representative from the Georgia School Finance Commission will discuss the HOPE scholarship & other financial aid options, including the FASFA. He will explain the process to attain financial aid both locally & federally.

 

Six-week progress reports distributed to students on September 23.

On September 30, 6:30 p.m. in the Commons Area, Brookwood will host a college fair. Over 100 college representative will be in attendance. This is an "automated" fair.  To save time filling out information cards, students may go to www.gotocollegefairs.com to create a barcode that can be scanned by reps at the fair.

On October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the Commons Area., parents and students are invited to Discover Duke.  A Duke University admissions officer will present information & answer questions about the university, the admissions process, financial aid and more.

On October 16, the PSAT will be given during the school day 1st through 3rd periods. All 10th grade students will take the test free of charge that day. There is a $15 charge for 9th & 11th graders who would like to take the PSAT at school on October 16. Ninth & eleventh graders may register online @ www.mypaymentsplus.com through September 26. Tenth graders do not need to register. Our bell scheduled will be altered due to the large number of students taking the PSAT. If your student is taking the PSAT, he/she WILL NOT MISS ANY CLASS INSTRUCTION. Students not taking the PSAT will be in a Guided Study for the three periods.

The Media Center will show 30-minute SAT Prep Videos after school free of charge. Sessions begin at 2:30 p.m. A different video is shown each day. Critical Reading & Writing videos on September 24, 25 & 26. Math on September 30, October 1, 2 & 3.

Wrestling 

Students interested in wrestling should attend an informational meeting & pick-up a registration packet on October 3, 2:20 p.m. in the Wrestling Room. A mandatory parent meeting will be held on October 9, 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. Registration forms should be turned in at the meeting. More info available at www.brookwoodwrestling.com.

 

Sports Physicals

Sports physicals will be offered at school for students who want to participate in winter sports, October 1, 6:30 p.m. in the Maroon Gym. $30 cash or check to your sport's booster club. Physical form must be signed by parent in advance.

Connect to Brookwood 

The Dance Department is look for contestants for the Mr. Brookwood pageant. Requirements: Must be a senior willing to perform one minute of a special talent & must be available October 22, 2:30-6:30 p.m. & October 23, 5:00-10:00 p.m. $25 entry free. The Mr. Brookwood Pageant is October 23 during Homecoming Week.
