Marketing Students to Enter the Snellville "Shark Tank"

In May, students from South Gwinnett and Brookwood High Schools will pitch business ideas to a community investment panel made up of local business owners as part of the Entrepreneur Alliance. The Alliance is a partnership between the City of Snellville and the two high schools. The goal is to engage Snellville's next generation in entrepreneurship while creating new employment opportunities for the community.  The students will present their business plans "Shark Tank"-style in hopes of receiving $2,000 in "venture capital."

"The Shark Tank will offer these kids an opportunity they wouldn't normally have," said Brookwood marketing teacher Cindy Bazzell. "It's one thing to present in front of their teachers, but it's a whole different ball game when they get to present them in front of their community."

Students will give a five-minute pitch and answer hard-hitting questions from the panel of investors, centering on long-term goals and scalability of their business. Best of luck to our Bronco presenters.

Any Holiday is a Reason for a Club Celebration

In celebration of Earth Day, the Ecos Club and AP Environmental Science students set up during lunches to help peers calculate their carbon footprint.  Students were encouraged to sign a "go green pledge".  And, students played a game about recycling and made flower pots out of newspapers.  Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful gave Brookwood High a banner and incentive prizes to get students motivated to participate.

The International Club celebrated Brazilian month with delicious Brazilian food and by having a Brazilian carnival tent set up outside. The members ended the celebration by producing their very own Harlem Shake video.
A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL DEES
Admins at prom
What a great time the chaperones had with the students at prom! Thanks to the committee that orchestrated such an elegant evening.

Dear (Contact First Name),

We look forward to the next few weeks with our students.  Yes, there are exams to take, but we will also attend play-off games, banquets and awards nights.  We will get our yearbooks and say goodbye to the seniors.

I especially enjoy sharing the excitement of our seniors who have made decisions about what will come for them after high school.  Whether they will go to college, join the military or get busy with work right away, they are about to embark on an adventure.

I'm proud of what the Class of 2013 has accomplished.  It's truly amazing when we reflect back on all they've learned, not just in the classroom, but important life lessons on friendship, hard work and integrity.  We expect big things from this group!

We will remember this year as one of Brookwood's best.  In this community, there will be many memory-building moments in the coming days. Together, let's celebrate each one.

As always, thank you for your support of Brookwood High School.

Warmly,
Debbie
