"Spring forward" one hour on March 10 at 2:00 a.m.  Daylight Savings Time begins. 

 

No school on March 11.  It's a teacher furlough day. 

 

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be given at school on March 28. Students sign up in Counseling (A1).

Did you know that Teacher Jessica Houck donated a kidney to Secretary Robbin Edwards in 2004? Read their story. We will remember them & raise awareness for kidney disease by wearing green to school March 15.

It's the time of year that we start to reach out to rising 9th graders & their parents to help them make a smooth transition to high school. Even if you are an old-timer, you might like this video Brookwood made to promote the upcoming 8th grade Activities Night.

The Student Job Fair is Monday, March 18, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Gold Gym. Businesses from around the area, such as McDonalds, Home Depot, Stone Mountain Park, Chick-Fil-A, Kroger & Best Buy will be available to meet with students.

 

PTSA general meeting on March 18, 6:45 p.m. in the Commons (just before the Job Fair).

 

Over the next two weekends, the new 5 Below store on Scenic Highway (where everything is $1-$5) is making a donation to Brookwood Soccer with every purchase.  You must take this coupon with you. It's a great place to get St. Patrick's Day, Easter & Spring Break essentials.

 

BHS Relay for Life $10 t-shirts are on sale until March 15. Students can pick-up an order form in C32 or email Maggie Evans.

 

Blood Drive, March 13, 3:00-7:00 p.m. in the Commons.  Walk-ins welcome.

 

Balfour will be in the Commons during lunches on March 19 to collect graduation fees for cap & gown + other graduation expenses.  Or, students/parents may pay online at www.gabalfour.com. Fees go up after April 1.

Dave Hunter
Longtime Brookwood football coach & athletic director Dave Hunter, who retired in 2006, will be inducted in the Gwinnett Sports Hall of Fame. Inductees will be honored at the May 4 Gwinnett Braves game. More from the

Free Heart Screening
On April 7, there will be a free heart screening for middle & high school students. The screening is hosted by Simon's Fund, a nonprofit organization from Philadelphia that has been providing free heart screenings to students for the past seven years. Screening will be held at the offices of the Cardiovascular Group, 755 Walther Road in Lawrenceville, from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.  Each student should expect to be at the screening for 30-40 minutes. Prior to the screening, students will need to register online & complete consent & medical history form. If you have questions, please send an email to info@simonsfund.org
