"Be Still and Know that God is God!"
The snow is a reminder from God for us all to be still and know that God is God and that He will be exalted. (Psalm 46:10)
I'm a typical man. I declared that I was going to get on top of this snowstorm and keep my driveway and walkways clear by shoveling throughout the storm. I shoveled 5 times yesterday. I shoveled, and shoveled, and shoveled. Yet, in spite of all my shoveling (as you can see from the photo above taken from my garage) the end result was snow, on top of snow, on top of snow! In other words, in my battle against the snow, I was no match -- and this is also the message from God. He wants us all to know that we're no match to stand against Him. He wants us all to be be still and know that He is God and that He will be exalted.
The 2016 Blizzard is a message that God wants us to draw closer to Him. Indeed, since we've been freed from our normal routines, let's heed the message by drawing closer to God through prayer, through study of His word, and quiet mediation. Let us also look upon the beauty and power of the snow and recognize that God is able to do "exceedingly above all that we could ever ask or think." Let us also use this time to draw closer to our loved ones -- to appreciate them (you're stuck in the house with them anyway!) -- and to check on the safety of our neighbors, church members and those who may be in need. May we also pray for the safety of all impacted by the storm, for the homeless, for first responders, that we'll take our time and get help if we need it shoveling and that our power will stay on.
Finally, I'm asking that you'll join me in a special prayer conference call that will take place on tomorrow morning Sunday, January 24 at 11AM. Join us at 641-715-3272; access code: 732413#.
Peace and Blessings,
