Pastor's Weekly Message

"
Maybe God is Saying Wait"

"When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard." (Luke 1:12, 13)

You ever feel like God is not answering your prayers? This is what happened to the priest Zechariah.  For years he and his wife Elizabeth prayed to have a child, but it seemed that God didn't hear their prayer.  They went on for years and years without conceiving a child.  But then one day, an angel of the Lord came to Zechariah and told him that he and Elizabeth were going to have a son.  As it turns out, God had not forgotten their prayer -- it's just that their prayer request had to fit into His perfect timing.

Maybe you're like Zechariah and Elizabeth.  Maybe you've been asking God for something and it seems that God is not hearing your prayer.  You've asked for that relationship, you've asked for that promotion, you've asked for healing, you've asked for deliverance and it hasn't happened.  Perhaps you're about to give-up because you think that God has said "No."  But it could be that God is just saying, "Wait."  Wait and it will happen, but not in your time -- it will happen in my time.

What do you do while you are waiting?  The answer is "Be still and know that God is God."  That's what the Apostle Paul did.  Paul had a thorn in his flesh. It was painful and annoying.  He asked God to remove it three times, but when he didn't get an answer, Paul said, "Your grace is sufficient."  And that's what we need to say today as we wait for our breakthrough.  We need to say, "God's grace is sufficient --  I can get through whatever it is that I need to get through by God's grace and I know that God will make all things beautiful in his time!"
