Dear Members and Friends of St.James Church
At this special time, I wish to send you love and warm best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I continue to marvel at how many varied and sundry ways God comes to us and calls us together here at St. James Church, Florence. From all the corners of the earth we have come, with different backgrounds, languages, life experiences and expectations. In and through it all God has built a community and a special home of belonging, welcome and hospitality for everyone. The Divine process of creation, formation and transformation is alive within us. And Christ is made manifest to us here in the many faces of friend and stranger. The Christ child visits us in our little ones whom we cherish so much, as well as in our middle-aged and elderly who are children grown up. The Holy Child comes to us in those we feed and clothe, with those with whom we celebrate, and with those with whom we grieve. This Christmas I hope and pray that the Christ child who lives in each of us and within this Holy Community will dance and prance with exhilaration and joy, and that our spirits will be refreshed and renewed.
At the close of each "E-news" we enclose the words of a hymn. I would like to share it with you now as a graceful Christmas gift.
" Love came down at Christmas, love all lovely, love divine;
Love was born at Christmas: star and angels gave the sign." Hymn 84
Your friend and brother,
Mark
