Lecture by Lucy Riall
During the momentous events that shook Italy in 1860 as the nation was being unified, there was a murderous riot in the Sicilian town of Bronte on the slopes of Mount Etna. In her new book, Professor Lucy Riall uses the discovery of a new archive to transform brilliantly this episode into an ambitious exploration of much larger themes.
All are welcome.

On February 14th, The Global Theatre Project's Creative Campus program in collaboration with the Comune di Firenze, the US Consulate and the Robert Kennedy Foundation will organize a flash mob in Piazza Repubblica. This event will be part of a global movement on that day to bring attention to the growing issue of violence against women and girls. Over 180 countries and 13,000 organizations will participate. We are proud to add Florence to that list.
Girls and boys, men and women of all ages are invited. Let us fill Piazza Repubblica to its fullest capacity!!!
Information on the event and the video to learn the dance can be found at: www.theglobaltheatreproject.org
The event will begin exactly at 15.00 and last no more than 20 minutes.
We are asking for everyone to bring a donation, of any size, which will be collected by Associazione Artemisia for their work helping victims of violence.
We are asking everyone to wear black and red and/or pink.
If you represent a group... we would love you to bring a sign which says, in ANY language, 'XXX says STOP THE VIOLENCE' or, if you are an individual, to create your own
