Acolyte Revolution!

Training for acolytes will be offered to older children, teens, and adults during Sunday School beginning September 23. The new Guild of Acolytes will be inter-generational for those who desire to serve at the Altar on Sundays. Please contact the Church Office if interested.

The library has a vast selection of books for children of all ages, from pre-reader through teenager. The Library has many activities during the year, including the annual Halloween, Christmas, and Easter parties, and bilingual book readings.

St. Paul's Within the Walls, Rome, is sponsoring a women's retreat on Saturday, September 29, from 9.30 AM to 4:00 PM. The purpose of the retreat is: to reflect on the ways women seek to deepen their spiritual lives and to explore how the Daughters of the King support one another and their congregations through faithful prayer and service.

Every Sunday in Church, the St. James Foodbank is collecting donations of food. Please support this important ministry by donating any of the following items: canned tomatoes, canned beans, 1 liter packages of long shelf life milk, 500 gram packages of pasta, 1 kilo packages of rice, 80 gram and 160 gram cans of tuna, coffee, crackers, small boxes of juice, merendine.  

 

The shopping cart will be at the back of the Church, waiting to be filled!

It is a spacious 3-bedroom, 3-bath apartment, furnished with antiques, including a beautiful 1826 John Broadwood fortepiano, and overlooking the church and the rectory garden. It is fully equipped with linens for both bed and bath, along with kitchen supplies. There is satellite television that includes many English language programs, a washing machine, microwave oven, and iron. The bedrooms and living room are air conditioned. Off- street parking within the grounds of the church for one car.

American Universities in Florence Open Days

The American universities in Florence have opened their doors to residents for free guided visits of their campuses.

 

On Tuesday, Sept. 25, there will be free, guided morning tours (10:15, 11:15 and 12:15) at Syracuse University (Piazza Savonarola 15), California State University (Via Leopardi 12), and Fairfield University (Corso Tintori 7). Afternoon guided tours (2:15, 3:15 and 4:15 PM) will take place at Bowling Green University, Via Sant'Antonino 11, Richmond College, Via Maggio 11; Kent State University, Vicolo dei Cerchi 1; and the University of New Haven (CEA), Piazza Repubblica 6. No reservation is necessary.

Owtram, who is head of the Language Centre at the European University Institute in Florence, where she teaches English for academic purposes.
