Dec. 20 - "Who is God?" with Gianluigi Gugliermetto We have different images of God in our minds, and the Bible also presents an astonishing variety of them. Are there reasons, in this postmodern era, to emphasize some of these images? Advent, as a time of waiting and unknowing, may resemble well our time of uncertainty and even obscurity, but does Christmas come and makes the night bright and clear? What happens to the images that we have of God when we are confronted with the Mistery of the Incarnation? Join us for this three-part series.

As we do every year, the Food Bank will be giving out new and nearly new children's toys in good condition, and warm hats, scarves and gloves for men and women on Dec. 24th, our last Food Bank before Christmas. We would appreciate any donations of the above mentioned items. If you would like to wrap your gifts please note on the outside of the package if it is a toy for a boy or girl and what age. Gifts can be left in the office or brought to Church on Sunday.
For any information please contact Lora Vezzosi 055 425 0126 or lorav@tin.it Thank you so much for all your help.

Christmas can (still) change the world
|

|
|
Welcome to Advent Conspiracy
The story of Christ's birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love.
So,
what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior
has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping
lists.
And when it's all over, many of us are left with
presents to return, looming debt that will take months to pay off, and
this empty feeling of missed purpose. Is this what we really want out
of Christmas?
What if Christmas became a world-changing event again?

Prayer: from our friends at EPPN
Almighty and most merciful God, you took on human flesh not in the palace of a king but in the throes of poverty and need: Grant that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart; that, following in the steps of your blessed Son, we may give of ourselves in the service of others until poverty and hunger cease in all the world, and all things are reconciled in the reign of Christ. Amen.
